We had this same problem with my nephew, what worked was one of those silicone typed nipple sippy cups, it works feels just like the pacifer but it is a sippy cup. After a week or so, my nephew forgot all about the pacifier, wanted the sippy then we just transfered him over to the regular sippies, that was 6 months ago..hope it helps

How about making a whole production of it. A ceremony so to speak. Being the big brother, and a baby coming to join the family next month, this is his contribution to helping out. Giving the new baby is pacifier. Reward him, praise him, like I said, make a big deal of it.

This may not be the answer that you want, but the best way is COLD TURKEY. Throw it into the garbage right now. Yur son will be cranky and have a tougher time getting to sleep over the next few days, but in a weeks time he'll be soooo over it. Keep the puppy, he'll 'grow out of it' soon enough. Good luck!

Like everyone else is saying....THROW IT OUT NOW!!!! Kids are going to be fussy. It's part of growing up. Let him still have his puppy. That way he still has something to comfort him that he loves. Rub his back at night to help him go to sleep also. My son loves back rubs, and doesn't take him very long to go to sleep when I do this.

just take it away he will cry for it and prolly give you a hard night sleep for a few days but after a few days he will forget about it, cuz hes gonna have teeth problems when hes older, most likely need braces and there not cheap, so cut the problem now before its to late,

tell him that his baby brother/sister is going to need it buy one that looks exactly that looks like his throw the old one out when he's not looking and give the baby the new one and say look i needed it for the baby

Get him off of it now before the baby comes (if at all possible). Throw them away and let him SEE you throw them out so he knows that they're gone. It may be hell for a day or two but after that he will not want them anymore.

My son had a favorite dinky car he wouldn't be without. When we were out walking he picked up a berry and threw it in bushes for the birds... along with his dinky car. We looked for hours. So I told him one of the birdies brought it up the nest for her babies to play with. He mentioned it once or twice but was okay with it after.

Had a friend who's son's soother broke, she showed him all excited and said this means your a big boy now!!! she gave him big hugs and kisses and told him how proud she was, and they threw out the pacifier together.
