What are good forms of birth control other than the pill and condoms

*Before anyone says something like "just man up and put on a condom" I'm looking for alternate forms of birth control, but if we can't find any that are effective and manageable I will use a condom*

So my girlfriend and I are sexually active and minors, both of us were virgins, so no risk of STDs, and I don't like condoms because it makes it difficult for me to keep it up and like 80% of the feeling is gone, she also likes the feeling more without a condom so no it's not completely for me and yes I know it was stupid to be unprotected. So I recommend The Pill and she says she doesn't want to because she's afraid of gaining weight - which is absolutely crazy, she's 100lbs and size 0 - and she doesn't want to be moody (in addition to her concerns I'm also worried that with how small she is it'll be difficult for her body to handle it).

So my question is, are there any other forms of contraception which we could use that aren't too complicated and we could use without anyone knowing?

The birth control pill has changed so much, there are few who actually gain weight. Plus the pill will not make her moody, they are designed to help with PMS and PMDD (Moodiness) But if she doesn't want to take the pill there are things such as the Nuvaring (I think i spelled it right) which is a small flexible ring that she will stick inside of her for 3 weeks out of the month. There is a shot called the Depo shot, but this has a high risk of weight gain. Honestly going with the pill form of birth control is the easiest and most effect way of birth control if you don't want to use condoms. Have her talk to her doctor about the other options that are out there. I took Yaz for 7 months and I did not like it because it made me break out, i got moody and cramps. I am on a new birth control now called Abri, and I have no moodiness, no cramps, no weight gain, no tummy aches, no acne either. Talk to your doctor.

Well it is very simple and old fashion way . But it truly works. Have your Girl friend to take a quarter and put the head side of the quarter on the inside of her right knee. And then hold the tail side of the quarter with her left knee. And then clasp her leggs together around the quarter very tightly and hold it there till the both of your sexual desires end.

Now thats one true form of birth contol.

i don't wanna be mean first of all, the best birth control is to not have sex. but if you really wanna then go to the doctor and get hers or yours thingy inside of you guys tied up so nothing can meet. but i gotta say it doesn't work that well, because my mom still got pregnant after that.

I have an IUD and the nurse told me that it is almost as effective as having your tubes tied. Plus, fertility returns as soon as it is removed. I just went to my Dr. and he inserted it in one visit. I never have to worry about it. It's always there. I had bad cramps and irregular periods for a while after though.

If you guys are in a monogamous relationship I would reccommend the shot. It last for a long time and doesn't require her to remember to take a pill... And also tell her she will gain a lot more weight being pregnant than being on birth control...

As far as the condoms go, there are those that are really thin and don't take away from the feeling.

About other forms of birth control, if she's afraid to take the Pill for fear of gaining weight, the Depo shot would probably be out of the question for her. However, there are really low-hormone pills which shouldn't cause weight gain. Besides that, there are gels, diaphragms, sponges (I guess they still make them), spermicidal foams, etc. None of them are as effective for birth control as the pill, though. Your best bet if you all have made the decision to have a sexual relationship is to visit Planned Parenthood or your local health department (visits are confidential) so the two of you together can make some informed decisions

First of all - there is no perfect birth control other than no sex.

Second of all -- your gf needs to talk to her mom and family doctor about this.

It's not just a "little something" - this is a major thing. If you all can't talk to your parents about it -then you know what you are doing is wrong and you shouldn't be doing it.

Great - you WERE both virgins... but you aren't now... and if you two break up and you start seeing someone else, and having sex with her -- bingo - you aren't a virgin anymore, and the diseases start somewhere.

That is plain BS about the condoms. Pulease. Girls can 'feel' if it's on or not.... and if its a ribbed one - turn it inside out and wear it - you'll like it better.

sigh. you guys are too young.

She really needs to talk to a doc about the options. Taking hormones is a serious thing.... and some forms of birth control are abortive - which would personally bother me. again - her mom at least should know.

I have the Mirena IUD. It has worked so far for me. You didn't say how old you are, but you did indicate that you are minors so I don't know if you can get an IUD without parental consent. And usually, they recommend the IUD for people who have already had children. There is also the patch, but it has the same hormones as the pill. There is Nuva Ring ... again a hormonal birth control. Really, as far as I know, the only non hormonal birth control options out there are condoms and spermicides (such as "today sponge" and "Encare" ... but really those are not all that effective used alone. Spermicides are more of a backup method to condoms or hormonal birth control). Good luck finding an option that works for you. And please be smart and safe. (Have you tried the "ultra sensitive" condoms?)

Hahaha... I hate to tell you, FOX, but you can still have sex even with a quarter between your knees! LMAO!!!

IUD's are a good safe form of contraception. It is usually only given to girls who are in a long term relationship. An IUD is placed inside the cervix, some release hormones, others dont, they just flatten the cervix making the sperm unable to reach the egg.

You would have to go to the Dr. to discuss this option, and a OB/GYN would have to fit it (usually). But doctors are required by law to keep everything confidential.

A small note about the OC. Not all make women gain weight. I have been on 8 different types of pills. (I have period problems) and only 2 of the 8 have made me gain weight. And only a couple of pounds. I am a little person as well, (105lbs) so I dont think she has anything to worry about.

well there is the IDU, which is inserted at the cervix and some can last for up to five years. Then theres the shot that she can get which i belive is good for up to 3 months, in which she would have to go back and get another shot. Then theres the diaphram which she inserts into herself and places it on the cervix, then after sex she takes it out. theres the sponge, which is like the diaphram. she inserts it into herself and takes it out afterwards. There are many options to choose from, but tell her not everyone gains weight on the pill. I was on the pill for 3 years (15-18 years ols) and i was just as skinny as she was and stayed that way. I was on the pill ortho try cylcen lo though. but yes...i belive the diaphram are things are stuff you can get at any drug store. The shot, pill, and IDU all are required to be given at the doctors office
