Absolutely! You should wait a couple of weeks and then take another one. Many times, when a pregnancy test is taken so early in a pregnancy, it may show a negative result even if you are indeed pregnant. Why does this happen? Well, when you are pregnant, the embryo releases a hormone called HcG. This hormone tells your body that you're pregnant. When someone becomes pregnant at first, the concentration of this hormone is very small. So then, when a woman goes to take a pregnancy test, it will most likely give a negative result because there isn't enough of the hormone in your urine for it to be detected by the test. However, when you wait a week or two, the body's concentration of HcG increases and then, it is easily detected by the test. So, again, wait a week or two to take another test, which you should do as soon as you wake up in the morning as your urine is the most concentrated at this time of the day.



If you would like to know sooner, go to your doctor to have a blood test done. The results from it are immediate. If money/insurance is an issue, see if any clinics around you offer free pregnancy blood tests. I am in NYC and I know a few that do.

You can be pregnant, though from what you say, you may just be experiencing an awkward cycle this time. It does happen every now and then, but it is still rare. If you really want to make sure, I'd suggest waiting a few more days to find out exactly what's happening.

Give yourself a couple of more days...You could simply be late. If after 2 to 3 more days you still have not gotten your period, go back and take another test. Sometimes over the counter tests are defective, so buy 2 of them and take them both...You will get your answer either way...Good luck.

There are such things as false negatives. You want to try different brands, and more than one. If all of them come out negative, chances are you're not. But the best way to know is to get blood work at the doctors office.
