If the Russians couldnt take Afghanistan what makes people think the USA can win-E-Answer.Net

the Russians weren't even the first to try. it's been going on for centuries. but I believe the Afghanistan war was actually just, and we would probably be in a much better situation if we had devoted our resources to it instead of diving them by invading Iraq, and it is also likely that our allies would be much more willing to lend their support in that theater if it was clear to them that we were doing all we could and still needed help.

Among many things, the Russians couldn't maintain their empire, they couldn't put a man on the moon, they couldn't sufficiently feed their citizens and they couldn't put missiles in Cuba - and when they went into Afghanistan, they didn't even have to battle the liberals in their own country. report abuse vote down vote up


LeAnne Votes: +0	the USSR was a very stubborn empire and therefore unwilling to readily change the way in which they fight wars. they fought battles for land, we fight them to win the hearts and minds of the people of Afghanistan. not to mention there primary tactic was to use large gunship helicopters and destroy rebel villages and as soon as we gave them some stinger missiles the soviets were doomed.
