Many horses learn that they can turn out from under a rider. Especially when the rider is not planted firmly in their seat.



I know of one that would run at full speed toward a metal gate and then turn and go into the barn lot. The rider would inevitably keep going straight. The owners came to me looking for a horse but I didn't want to sell them one because my horses are all broke to curb bits and these people did not know how to use one (and didn't want to learn). Their hands were way too heavy on the reins.



And yes it could also be that her saddle isn't fitting right or even that the saddle pad lost too much of its padding. I even had a saddle once that had one of the tacks holding the fleece on to work loose and start poking the horse. I found it before it caused any real discomfort but you need to check those types of things out before you assume it is the horses fault. But I'm just saying it could very well be the horse.

try having your trainer or someone bigger or more advanced than you ride the pony because the pony might be trying to take advantage of you so first see if she only does it with you

try a harsherbit for a little bit then go back to your normal bit and see if it makes a difference also try do ing a circle befor the jump or try doing jumper trns and stuff she might just be bored

When you ask her to canter, it should have nothing to do with the bit.... Are you balancing yourself on her mouth? If she checks out at the vet, have a trainer watch you with her. A lot of times when we have a problem with an otherwise nice horse, it's really about how we're riding them.

well there could be something wrong with her you should have the vet come out and check her. if there isn't something wrong with her maybe she is, but i am not a horse trainer so i wouldn't trust me very much. good luck finding the answer. Sabrina

When my mare acted just like that, it was a misfitting saddle.

It may be hurting her wither or loin.

Both the canter and the jump will cause the saddle to hurt, if it isn't fitted right.

Check her feet maybe it hurts when she jumps also ask the vet.

A saddle fit problem? A sore back? Check those things out before you look at behavior problems......
