I would love to become a professional show jumper. I am approaching an advanced level right now. What is some good advice to make sure I don't leave anything out and what are the necessary steps to becoming a professional?
~Thank you~
I would make sure you set yourself up with an instructor who has jumped on the top circuits, and tell them what your aspirations are. You need to perfect your riding and jumping skills, and eventually get the horse with the caliber and talent to do the jumping at the level you want to compete in. If you have somebody like an instructor to guide you along the way, you will probably get to the level you want quicker, and at least know what to do as you work your way up.
You might need to switch barns if your instructors now don't compete as high as you want, but it will get your to your end goal faster.
Good luck!

It not just about being a good rider(unfortunately), you need to have a ton of cash to buy the right horses and jump at the qualifying shows. Once you start getting noticed, you can start getting the sponsors.
