Well, this summer we went to Maine for one night and we stayed at a Best Western. It was great! The pool, our room was huge, and they were pet-friendly. There were actually a lot of dogs at the hotel! We brought my dog's crate and she was fine in the room alone for maybe 4-5 hours. She barked at first and we drove around the parking lot and she was barking but the second time she was fine. We left her the Kong and a rubber toy that she can't break and a tennis ball and she was just waiting for us like she does at home when we got back. report abuse

Call the motel that you want to stay at and ask them if they allow dogs and tell them what kind of dogs you have. Also 4 hours would be fine but you should go back and check on them and also make sure the maid doesn't go in while you are gone and that way you won't be taking any chances on her letting your dogs out and also you can make sure that they won't bite her because dogs are protective of their surroundings report abuse

It is obviously not a very formal meeting if it's at the beach. Have you thought of taking them and leaving them in the car. Obviously if you cannot see the car from the venue, it's not a good idea. report abuse

Hey - a lot of hotels offer babysitting as an extra so maybe you could see if you could get a babysitter in your room for 4 hours. Failing that just make sure you take them on a great big walk before you leave them and wear them out so all they are fit for when you are gone is collapsing and sleeping. This is definitely the way to stop them causing carnage when you are not there! report abuse

I don't think four hours of leaving them alone should be that big a deal. I know where I live usually the bigger, more expensive hotels are the ones that allow dogs more so than the cheaper motel chains but you can look at this site and see what's in the area. Good luck and have fun!! report abuse

You'll just have to call the motel that you intend on staying at and ask them what they do and do not allow. Its also highly recommended (if not mandatory) that the dogs be in crates while you are not there. That way there is no threat of things getting chewed up, anyone getting hurt or the dogs accidently being let out of the room. report abuse

Most hotels that allow pets ussually have rules against leaving them alone. This is to prevent destruction, and also for the safety of their housekeeping staff. If they are crate trained, it may be ok to leave them while crated.. ask the hotel manager when making your reservations. report abuse

Well, you can leave the do not disturb sign on the door, BUT most hotels have a strict policy that NO dog is to be left in any room unattended. So...you'll have to check that out, before you get kicked out of the hotel for it. report abuse

i would ask the hotel if they allow dogs i know some do and if they damage anything you will have to pay for it 4 hours should be ok but maybe you should pop back and see them if you can just to make sure they are ok report abuse

I believe Motel 6 is pretty pet friendly but I can't speak to their breed or size restrictions. I heard from a friend who was living in one with her dog that she wasn't allowed to keep the dog in the room alone. report abuse

Make sure they have flea preventative on, in addition to being crated - they don't call them fleabags for nothing! report abuse
