Read this I need as many good answers as I can get.

I have a 4 month old Shi Tzu and i noticed today that he has what looks like a sty on the outside of his lower eye lid. His eye is watery but I know shi tzus have watery eyes normally but they sty thing is new. I washed it and wiped it out but Im wondering how worried I should be or if it will go away with me washing out his eyes daily. His hair is kind of long around his face and I have never gotten him groomed because I love his long hair but Im not sure that can cause a problem for his eyes...I do cut the hair short between his eyes and near his nose. HELP!!

I have a lhasa apso (kind of similar) and she gets really watery eyes too. The best thing is to clean it with cooled boiled water (as it's sterile) around 3 timmes a day for a few days. If it doesn't heal get it checked, but like you said keep his hair cut short around the eyes as it carries dirt and can cause infection. Is there any blood and is it causing him any pain. If so get it checked asap.

I would take him to a groomer (or do it yourself - but be careful!) and ask them to trim the hair just around his eyes. It could be a hair poking him and irritating his eyes. He may look "surprised" for a few days, but it will probably be more comfortable for him.

I would also consult a vet about the sty thing. It may need treatment, and you don't want it to get worse and potentially ruin his vision.

Good luck!

it sounds like he has cherry eye, he can wait a day or so to go to the vet, but dont wait very long. i would recommend from now on cutting the hair around his eyes becuase maybe thats how the bacteria could have gotten there. i wouldnt wash his eye out more than once a day until you see what the vet has to say

You need an eye ointment, a sty is an infectution. take him to the vet. In the mean time you can put a warm compress and leave it there for a bit

You need to see the vet, any eye problem that is not dealt with promptly and with the correct medication can lead to permanent damage to your dogs eye sight.

I'd go to the vet and see if they can do anything about it. They may give you some medication for the dog.
