I know there have been a lot of questions like this lately, but Im just wondering....

I feed my dog Canidae Lamb & Rice, and I know that they're going to change their formulas. So I have three questions...

1) Is it worth changing? Is the food still going to be high quality?

2) They said on their website that they're making the food more digestable. Does that just mean they're adding a bunch of crappy fillers?

3) If I still wanted to keep my dog on Canidae Lamb & Rice, would I have to switch gradually from the original formula to the new one?

Thanks you guys!!! ♥

1. Yes it is worth changing unless you want a product that is under a plant that has had recalled dog food.

2. Yes! There is more fillers and it is lower quality, more people are reporting their dog is having upset stomach or loose stool, some peoples dog don't eat it others don't seem to be affected by it.

3. You wouldn't have to gradually change but if you have left overs it is better.

Canidae does state that they are very happy with their new relationship with Daimond and because of the new outsourcing they can save money but have fully tested the food it make sure it is safe because of the Daimond recalls. (just found the email sent back by Canidae)

I guess it is up to you if it is worth it to give them a chance or just see how your dog does. All my doggy pet boutiques have dropped Canidae because it is being carried by Diamond, they won't sell any Diamond products even Chicken Soup and Solid Gold.

ADD: As this person has not yet learned, Canidae is outsourcing the new formula and poduction to the Diamond plant this is as of recent. Canidae has not yet had recalls and may never had been NOW that they are in bed with a company that has HAD recalls people are starting to wonder about the future quality.

The problem with the new formula that the poster must of missed is that they added Millet, Rice Bran and Barley (Barley contains gluten!!!!)

First, none of Canidae's foods were affected by the recall. They process their food at their own plant and do not sent it out, like some of the other companies do.

According to the website, they were lowing the carbs, which is a good thing. I also read the list of ingrediants and I did not see any crappy filler.

I currently feed Canidae All-Stage, with the 3 meat source; Chicken, Turkey & Lamb. He's in great health and his coat is fabulous. Unless I see that he does not handle the "new & improved" formule well, then I'll switch.

Canidae has been on the Whole Dog Journels top food lists a bunch of years in a row.
