Besides adopting, is there any way we could ever save the dogs in puppy mills

I wish I could just punch every single puppy miller in the face and take every dog and puppy out of their cages and clean them up and get them out of there. Is that possible? Can I do that without getting in trouble? lol

It's just really heartbreaking to me and I can't stand to even hear about dogs/puppies being abused and overbred.

Is there any way any of us dog lovers could contact the government or something about this?

Definitely.

On a small scale...don't support puppy millers, and help educate the public as to the negative impact of buying from BYBs and pet shops.

It's probaby very possible to get involved with the humane society or other such group to actively put a stop to these people...whether you help report, etc.

Never hurts to write your leaders in government. While I never have much faith in those people, it only takes a few minutes and a postage stamp to at least let the people in charge know this is one issue that needs to be addressed.

You can research how to change federal laws (not state laws). This is difficult to do but is the only way anything will happen to change animal abuse in this country. There are so many issues that need attention on a federal level that animals are on the bottom of the list of priorities.

The only realistic thing to do is to educate the public (across the country) that they shouldn't support any petstore sales (since the majority of them take from mills). They should adopt from the pound or find highly respected breeders. Let's put the petstores out of business.

A friend of mine knows a petstore owner that told her he had a mini poodle puppy that came with a hip problem and could not be sold. In this case, they would be returned for a refund to the breeder/mill. He only gets about $25.00 back and so he gave her the puppy because the mills kill them if they are defective or got too old before they could sell them. Disposible animals. Now if you have a pitbull that attacked your dog and you kill it yourself, you go to jail and get heavy fines but big business can kill baby dogs and no fines are imposed. That's the USA for ya.

you can save the dogs in the puppy mills by not buying dogs from the pet shop because then the puppy mills wont have enough money to manage what they are doing so it will shut down and stop! The reason why is because the dogs in the pet shop is from the mills( puppies) there moms are being abused! And if you don't buy the dogs from the pet shop then the mill will shut down because no money!

I agree that more people need to become involved and petition their government to set stricter laws on this issue. Also talk to everyone you know and tell them not to buy dogs from pet stores where most get their animals from puppy mills. Always buy from a responsible breeder or local shelter and please have your pets spay or neutered.

Unfortunately there is no government agencies that I know about!

There is however some no kill agencies around,! They are limited of course to how many animals they can take!

The government does provide shelter, humane societies for this situation, but there are so many! A sad situation for sure, and yes does break the hearts of animal lovers like you and me! I have noticed that people are also having more of an interest in these no kill shelters, but the expense has to be much! I do hope I did help you with the information I have provided to you !! Cheers !!!

You can start a petition with lots of names and present it to your senator. I think people need to bring a lot more attention to this situation with much harsher consequences. As it stands, dogs are looked at as "property" and the punishment certainly doesn't fit the crime. Isn't that ridiculous?

There are letters that you can send. The biggest thing, however, is exaclty what you are doing right now- spreading the word. Keep urging people not to buy from pet stores, puppy mills, and to ADOPT. You may not realize it, but by asking this question you did something to help stop it, you raised awareness

I always recommend spaying & neutering the millers, using the same low tech methods they use for caring for dogs, but there is this little thing about cruel & unusual punishment.

Many of the millers are Amish, and do not believe in self defense, this would be an easy thing to quite literally pull off.

e-mail me first off and we can discuss other ways of saving animals.

Next, if you have a my-space account, you can contact me there.

This is what I do.

Hope this helps.

Black clothes

Flashlights

homes for them lined up

etc.....

No really, I understand your frustration but I've never heard of a way to solve it on the legal side of things.

Make sure to contact the humane society when you run across a puppy mill.

I had a pet store shut down once...the conditions were awful and I notified the authorities. So it can be done....
