I have had parakeetsfor 6 years, and somtimes when I take them out they do exactly that! It has never seem to hurt them but if you really want to stop it then think about cipping its flight feathers. It doesn't hurt and it makes it so the bird cant fly. Look it upon google and it will tell you how two do it safely

The problem you are having is quite common .your bird must be accustomed to flying in it's new surrounds.
Let it come out on it's own accord then it will fly in the air space that it is controlled by,if it was "Aviary "bred then it will have seen"Light"and until it get used to it's new surrounds this will happen .
Time and Patience and Please don't clip it's wings.

i have a parotkeet. if its had its wings clipped then its hard for them to fly. it keeps running into windows cuz it doesnt know what a window is. they think they can get outside since windows are see through. lol try shutting the curtains when you let it out. or just dont let it out at all. oh, and im sorry but you cant train a parotkeet.
