They can see as far as 2.2 miles. Ostrich brains are as big as a walnut and smaller than their eyes. They are not particularly intelligent, but have the largest eyeball of any bird.

Pretty far. I can't tell you the exact distance but they need to be able to see far to spot predators. That is why they have the long necks so they can see further on the horizon. The long legs halp with that as well but are mainly used for speed and protection.
