Well, unfortunately you have to be at least 14 in NJ to be able to get a work permit and even then not many people would hire you because there are too many restrictions. Even volunteering may be a problem at your age because of liability issues. Aside from that maybe try a kennel, alot of times their looking for help cleaning the kennels out, bathing dogs, etc. Another thing to try, call your local municipal office and see if they have any volunteer programs for the summer, some townships have groups of kids that help to clean litter out of the parks and other areas.

Start your own company. At 12 years old you probably know more about computers than most 50 year olds. You can put up flyer's at the Senior Center for computer help. You can have one of your parents drop you off and pick you up- or you could make arrangements to pick it up and drop it off when you are done. You could even offer classes on how to get on the Internet, download pictures of grand kids, etc.

Just make sure if you are taking personal property home, that you get some sort of insurance.

If you like kids you might be able to work in the nursery at your church.

You could mow lawns or if you are in an apartment complex. You could plant and grow flowers to sell.

Good Luck- by the way... I started babysitting when I was 12. So I know how you feel- it is tough.
