Hermione Granger!!

I admit, Emma Watson portrays the part of hermione brilliantly.
I think that they should make her look just a little bit more geeky like she is in the books. Even if its just making her hair a little more bushy as its described to be in the books!! Her hair was perfect for the role in the 1st film but it seems to have gone flatter and flatter as the movies have gone on.
I just think they should do that with her hair and it would make a big difference. Does anyone agree??

Yeah, Hermione's gotten too.. pretty. She seems almost girly which, isn't the bookish Hermione we knew. I agree completely that 1st movie Hermione was perfect. Down to the 't'. Not a single thing about her was wrong. Then Cuaron decided to straighten her hair and the bush was gone. Hermione's lost her signature look over the year in a sense that it's changed. It shifted from the original Granger that we all loved. My friend said to me after OOTP "Isn't Hermione supposed to be.. ugly?"

So yeah, the hair would help all us readers sit through easier cause we'd all quickly recognize and relate to Hermione.

Yes, in large part I agree. It's a shame, really - in the first movie, she looked about right (as mentioned, the teeth weren't), but her character was absolutely horribly portrayed (by both bad acting and unfortunate script). The acting improved, and the script in the following movies (Hermione's part) was much more in line with the books than was the first movie.

Personally, the thing I notice most when I begin watching the movies is how badly the characters, in appearance, correspond to the characters in the books. The actress playing Ginny, particularly, was poorly cast. At the very least they could color her hair red. Draco isn't the "rat-faced" (described, not insulted, repeatedly in the books) ugly little git from the books. Crabbe and Goyle - and all of the older students - are not nearly big enough, nearly every student is Harry's size.

The professors, on the other hand, are very well-cast (though Hagrid is not nearly big enough, and Madame Maxime looked like a guy in drag instead of a huge, rotund but very effeminate demi-giantess).

Enough whining. You're right - they *should* try to stick to the books instead of attempting to make whatever-her-name-is look unreasonably hot at a far-too-young age, but her agent probably fights for the "make her look hot" thing....good for her career, etc.

The acting is good, but not so much her appearance. I've noticed that in the first 2 films her hair was awesome, they did it like it is in the books. But when the 3rd - 5th films came out i was a little disappointed that her hair and appearance were very different. Hermione is supposed to be very "geeky" and i think they should of made her look more like that, and also, her hair is curly/wavy and its more blonde now, in the philosophers stone her appearance was "big bushy brown hair and rather large front teeth and very plain looking" as you can obviously see, Emma Watson is gorgeous. But she is a very good actress, so i'm not really complaining.

I agree, Hermione is described to have Bushy hair, large front teeth, she doesn't care about her appearance. That is why people were shocked when she turned out beautifully in the Yule Ball, although she might've been a normal (maybe a bit ugly) looking in her first years in Hogwarts, but I'm sure she bloomed into a wonderful, grown female in the end of the books, as she received many compliments in the last three books, on her appearance that is, I presume that indicates that she turned out to be quite beautiful in her late teens.

I think Emma Watson portrayed Hermione the best in the first TWO films, and the older she got, and the more changes they made in the movies, the prettier she got! Which proves how much they change the books. I suppose they should make her a lot more 'nerdy' looking if you can understand what I mean, they movie Hermione, no the late Hermione is a bit too pretty for a nerd.. ^_^

I totally agree~ And sometimes (no offense to Emma Watson, or anything, because I love her and she's a great person) but sometimes she doesn't capture the role of Hermione THAT well. In The GoF movie, in the scene where she is yelling at Moody to stop using the spell, in my opinion, she didn't capture it that well.

They do need to make her hair bushier at the least, sometimes Hermione just seems mean instead of just being plain bossy.

No offense or anything, I love Hermine / Emma Watson <3

I believe it's because she gets older and older and if you look in book seven at the beginning of one of the chapters they always show a little picture and in one of them they show a picture of her next to ron and her hair isn't that bushy/curly. But in the other books she does have really curly hair. Besides the thing with curly hair is it usually is really really curly and hard to keep control of but when you are older it gets better to control, mabye that's why they did that?

Yes- I do agree- I think this need to be beautiful in society has made the producers change Hermione into something she isn't- Hermione, while not ugly, isn't the pretty girl Emma Watson is portraying- they should have made her much more geekish and the hair should of stayed at the same level of bushiness!

Cheers!

IMO even in the first movie she was too pretty to be Hermione though she IS Hermione I agree with you remember until right before the yule ball she had huge teeth (was hit in the face by an enlargement charm and had madam pomfrey shrink them down a little smaller than they originally were)

I think her hair is ok.... in book 1 hermione's is described as a mess, but as the story continues, we see that she is actually becoming prettier and prettier.... I believe it's ok in the movies.

well, didnt she lose her 'geeky-ness' after the third book, i mean she was still the know-it-all that we all love, just more aware of her appearance. i think we can thank krum and ron for that one =) lol

i was thinking about that just the other day. I mean her hair goes like "pretty" later on but in the books they described it as poofy as the bushes that surrounded hogwarts.

I agree. In the beginning she was much more "Hermione-ish" but now she just looks like a normal girl. Although she still acts the part well, the "look" has gotten less geeky.

Agreed.

She would be perfect for Hermione if her hair was bigger like in the 1st film, and she acted more nerdy. I don't think Hermione is supposed to be UGLY - but just not as free spirited as Emma plays her..

Yes, I agree she plays Hermione perfectly! Of course, if they could just make her hair bushier like they had it in the first and second movies, that would complete it! Who's Hermione without her trademark hair?

She's too pretty and she cares too much about her appearance...totally goes against the "you don't have to be pretty" message.

But Emma Watson's hair is very pretty.

I wish they wouldn't let her play Hermione when she's blonde, though.
