I think we would have to see a picture to identify the ant. Your sister-in-law and her daughter were probably bitten. Ants don't have stingers, but they can bite. report abuse

Maybe fire ants, I live in the carolinas i'm not sure where else they are but they suck, when they bite it really hurts and leaves a painful little red bump. That would be my best guess. report abuse
