This sounds wierd but it works.

Put your shoes in a plastic bag with a pouch of mildewcide- available at the drugstore by the Damp-Rid and air fresheners.

Leave them for at least 24 hours. The mildewcide is actually poisonous formaldehyde. It will kill everything including the fungi and bacteria in your shoes causing the odor. When you take them out, let them air out side for a while, in fact do the whole process out side or in the garage.

I have used this process for years on my Chef shoes that tend to get stinky from all the 12 hour work days.

You can seal the formaldehyde pouch in a couple layers of Ziplocks and it will last for years.

okay so my dog threw up in my shoe! gross rite! so i had to put gold bond powder (that stuff that relieves iches and stuff) and i put that all over then inside of my shoes. then put them outside for at least 5 hours. that worked to make them not smell but if u want to make them smell good. spray air freshener. it works really well i used febreze. good luck with ure shoes smilies/cheesy.gif

Hello Aleah,

I have used a 50/50 mix of water/bleach on my stinky shoes, and I do construction. smilies/smiley.gif If you use this method, let them totally dry before wearing.

Wadded up newspapers inside the shoes overnight helps....

Also, there is a product made by Kiwi (shoe polish maker) that you spray in your shoes...

Try sprinkling some baking soda in your shoes and put them in open air, that will get rid of the smell.

If baking soda does not work, buy a new pair. sometimes once shoes get to that point there is no going back.
