Fire ant bites

My husband sat in an ant mound accidentally about three weeks ago and sustained approx 30 fire ant bites to his left ankle and foot. We treated the bites at home. this occurred 3 weeks ago. Last week he started complaining of pain and swelling in his groin, thinking it was a hernia he went for an ultrasound this week and the doctor called today to say it is a swollen lymph node. Is it possible/highly probable that the fire ant bites caused the swelling?

He should've asked the doctor this question, but having some knowledge of these insects, I'd say it's possible they caused the swelling. He could even be allergic.

If he's diabetic there could be more complications.

It will probably go away, but realize that fire ants carry a very toxic venom and try to beware of them in the future. I know that's obvious, but also note that they can kill infants.

Now why wouldn't you have noticed the mound of critters? New to Texas are ya?

Sorry, yea, it could be but if you only got 30 bites-then prob'ly not. Sorry, I gotta laugh atcha. I was working in the yard...barefoot as usual and got bit several hundred times, as they don't like a lawn mower. lol
