I went to the dentist wednesay, noon, with an absessed tooth. Why is my chin still numb

Its now saturday 10:30pm. I got 5 shots novicain. Last one felt like an electrical shock. I could hear electricity and shook as if being shocked. Can a nerve be killed like that?

yes, you can have nerve damage from a needle. if it hit in just the right place, a nerve can be severed.

it's pretty rare, but definitely possible.

It dont sound right to me,

the numbness should go in a day.

Sounds like he could have damaged a nerve or something,

Hopefully it has gone by now and the nerve has healed itself.

If not dont wait any longer ring the dentist for advice or ring the doctor or the NHS they should be able to give you the corect advice...

best of luck

Shannon is correct, but the numbness may dissipate and feeling could eventually return. It may take a while.

It's only been 3 days -- give at least a week.

You need to call your dentist and let him know. It sounds like he hit a nerve. Hopefully it will recover.

5 shots of novocaine is too many. Your numbness disappears in few days.
