Shin Megami Tensai Persona 3 and Persona 3 FES the same-E-Answer.Net

I was wondering if these two games are the same. I understand that they said persona 3 FES is the expansion version, but does that mean that it's story starts after Persona 3 or exactly the same story and gameplay but with more features added? This has been bothering me because the original Persona 3 costs 49.99 and the newer Persona 3 FES costs 29.99. So I'm wondering what is the exact difference of the two in specific, rather I want to know what the expansion really means in this case for the two games Persona 3 and Persona 3 FES. Because if the Persona 3 FES version starts after Persona 3, I'd have to buy the original one first before the expansion. If it's exactly the same thing with added features, I'd just go for the expansion FES version instead. So I'd like to know before buying it. Thanks.

When you buy then play Persona 3 FES, it will tell you to pick an episode. One called The Journey (the original game) and the other called The Answer (the sequal). So since you are wondering if the story starts after the original game or the same, but with more features, the answer is that it's both. Persona 3 cost 49.99 and Persona 3 FES cost 29.99. It's because Persona 3 cost a lot before Persona 3 FES that less people will actually buy it if Persona 3 FES cost more than Persona 3. Persona 3 FES starts out after Persona 3, but Persona 3 FES also has Persona 3 too.
