My Public School wont let students express through their hair

Okay, so my school won't let guys have their hair past their ear lobes and it can't touch their collar, so basically it can't be long. But girls can have it however they want it : long, short, or even guy short! I am a girl, i just think it's wrong, and i was wondering if it is considered discremination?By the way, My aunt works for a school and she said they can't do that.

It most certainly is discrimination...

I mean, how is long hair (in the case of males) a radical statement? It's just hair, and unless it was like, in rainbow whirling helicoptic swirls that ate people, then it would be a cause for alarm.

It is discrimination with willful intent to homogenized everyone into a single mold. They can't be "skinheads", wear Mohawks, have spiky hair, have piercings or visible tattoos, nor hair of unnatural coloring, nor dress that are too revealing or controversial. The next move is to go back to school uniforms for everyone. Get fashion and "individualism" out of school. Stress cooperation, conformity, and learning. Nothing else. What's wrong with that?

Back in the 80's I have several different colors of hair, blue, green and pink. My blond daughter was kicked out of public school because her hair turned green in the swimming pool. We ended up having to get a letter from a licenced stylist saying the color wouldn't come out and couldn't be dyed over and cutting it mostly off before she could go back. She is now homeschooled. The school board said "it was a distraction". It wasn't even one of those horrid schools that make the kids wear uniforms. Kids must conform now days and show now signs of individuality.

i think it could somewhat be discrimination but i think more its a violation against your rights as an American...I think you should present your case to the board of ed because that does not seem right. men can have hair past their ear lobes and look very neat and proper. are you at some private school run by nuns? cuz that would explain it

This is just like my school. They probably want to look very orderly and serious. I agree with you. It's wrong. I do think it could be considered discremination, and I think you've made a good point.
