Is it just me or do KFCs Sauceless Hot Wings creep you out a little

I know it's probably something in the batter that makes them that way but it almost seems like they manipulated the chicken's DNA to make them bold and flavorful before the kill.

I haven't tried them but does anyone think they may be using the chipotle flavored breading on it? It does have a bit of a kick to it.
