How do I make a friend suggestion at Facebook for a friend that I have had for a long time

Go to your friend's profile. Scroll all the way to the bottom of his/her profile, and click on the "Suggest Friends for xxx" link that is at the bottom left. You will then be able to select other friends that you want to link up (which will automatically suggest a friendship to the other person).
