Only corporations that make profit need to file federal income taxes. There is not a law that enforces it to be paid on our labor!

They enforce it with guns and court room fines.

Here's what happened. The 16th Amendment in the constitution which says "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration." was passed in the year 1913, shortly after we created the Federal Reserve. (hmm).

So according to the constitution YES we have to pay income taxes.

The big controversy about this is not because of the lack of an amendment, but because of how the amendment was ratified.

In order to ratify an amendment to the constitution, it must be approved by 3/4 of all the states.

A lot of people think that the president, or congress or whoever, fraudulently ratified this bill, even though they did not have enough states. It is rumored that a few of the states (not sure i remember which ones) did NOT approve of the bill, but the government said "too bad" and pretended they said yes anyway.



Besides THAT argument, there is also the "Ohio Wasn't A State Yet" theory. This is actually kind of funny. The bill was ratified with JUST the right amount of approval. If there was one state less, it would not have passed. Ohio voted in approval for this bill, in 1913.

However, a couple decades later, Ohio happened to be going through it's paper and they made a shocking discovery. No one had ever made a formal document, legally admitting them into the Union! They techinally weren't a state yet, and no one even knew. So they told the people in DC, and the proper papers were signed to make Ohio a legal state. But this didn't happen until the year 1953.

So now people are arguing that Ohio's vote of approval on Amendment 16 should not count, because they weren't technically a state yet when they voted for it.

The loss of Ohio's vote would have prevented the amendment from being ratified.



Those are the main argument I have heard against income tax. I'm sure there are more though, people will argue over anything if it means a little extra cash. =)

I'm going to guess you really didn't put any effort into this. I found a copy with one search and the first listed link. yes, you still have to pay your taxes.

There is nobody who can prove to you that income taxes have to be paid because you have already convinced yourself that they aren't and don't want to be convinced differently.

It is a true statement that you do not "have to pay income taxes" . There are two methods to avoid doing so. One: Don't make any money! Two: Refuse to do so and go to jail, where you will revert to the first method!
