If I get a second job, will those wages cut into my tax refund at the end of the year

I work full time making over 40k a year, but decided to take out a second part time job for school. I get to claim my tuition and student loans on my taxes, but will these wages and taxes cut into and effect my usually large tax return at the end of the year?
If you are single and have 25% taken out of the second job for federal taxes, you should be OK.
Any money you earn in the second job will be taxed at the highest tax bracket you fall into. Because of this you should not claim any exemptions - and you should probably ask them to take out a set percentage or an additional amount out of your check so that you end up having 25% taken out. You don't want them to take out taxes based on the second job being your only income - if they only take 10% out, and the income is taxed at 25%, you will owe 15% on all your earnings from your second job. If your refund is normally large enough to cover that 15%, then you can get away with only having 10% withheld. It will depend mostly on how much extra income you actually earn.

You should fill out your W-4 on your second job with zero allowances. That way, if the second job puts you into another tax bracket, you will have the extra withholding to pay for the increased taxes.
It is impossible to say if your refund will increase or not. But it is certain that even with the extra taxes, you will have more spendable income.
