Can you rent an apartment with bad credit

I seriously doubt it . Most respectable apartment complexes require a good credit score to get in .....

There is a "Chance" someone could get in with a very low credit score since times are difficult even for apartment complexes ....

Depends on the situation, I go to Purdue, and I have poor credit, but I was able to rent a place because I was a full-time student, my parent did have to cosign but, I don't think it really mattered that much. Point is ask around people are desperate to rent out their apartments, if I could find one without putting down a deposit down the street from school where the demand for apartments is off the charts surely you can find one.

Depends.

If you're credit shows that you simply don't pay anyone, then a landlord would be stupid to rent to you.

If your credit shows that you a have, say medical bills in collections but your car payment is always on time and same with your credit cards, much better shot.

You are better off to be upfront about your credit issues with the manager. Not unusual to have to pay an application fee, so if it's a foregone conclusion that you won't qualify, you've just saved $25-50. If there is some leeway, then go for it. Then there are individuals who rent their investment properties. Sometimes they don't even run your credit. You won't know till you try, and if you don't try, I can guarantee that you won't find a place.

No because the apartment is looking @ your credit to determine of you will be he right tenant. Because if you are behind on your past creditors you hold up a red flag that you aren't reliable when it comes to your obligations.

Well it depends. If you are renting from an individual owner you might get lucky but other companies who do this as a business you will not get it. They might ask you to pay 3 months upfront.

Not likely unless there is a high vacancy rate in your area and the owner is desperate. You may need a co-signer for the lease
