How do I get my IPOD to place on my LCD tv

I tried plugging it in in the USB port, but I don't think that's right. So I bought an apple video cord for ipods. I plugged it into my tv..and I don't know what to do from there. Do I change to a certain channel?

this site will give you an ipod just for completing some quick online tasks! really recommend it, especially if you're broke but really want an ipod (like me).
