I want to model ….but my parents

Ok so I really want to model and like I brought it up to my parents one time and my mom was like whatever your dad says and he was like NO I'm not gonna let be you be one of those "girls" by girls he means like screwed up Hollywood stars. Even though he knows that would never happen ….i'm 12 and if somehow I do get to model I would wait until I get like 13 or 15 so I would be taller. I just need to know how to approach them when I get that age. I was thinking I could get some one to suggest it for me but I don’t know. He did say I could take singing classes or acting classes or dancing …. Can someone give me ideas on what to say ?
Thanks =]

At age 12, most modeling agencies would refuse you, so it's good that you're gonna wait a little until you get older(15+ is a good age, but it's your decision). When you become of age,though, I suggest that you do some research and explain to your dad that most models keep a low profile and don't party too much. Give him an example, like Coco Rocha or Chanel Iman. Both are young models who stay out of trouble and have successful careers. They aren't seen negatively in the press and are great role models. Also, you could tell him that most wanna-be models don't make it anyway, so why not give it a try and see what happens. At the same time, you should keep in mind that modeling is an incredibly tough industry to get into. It is very demanding, and like any other job, requires hard work, perserverance, and dedication. Also, I hope that you realize that if you start at a younger age, you're basically going to have to juggle your career and your education, which is a very tough balancing act. You'll most likely miss a lot of school if you make it in the industry, so it's good to keep that in mind. Just remember that modeling is not a part-time thing that you can do whenever you want. Best of luck with your dad & modeling, hopefully I've helped!

Your 12, you'll change your mind a twenty times before you turn 15 as to what you want to be. My kid sister thought she wanted to model at 13 or 14 and she has one year of high school left and want to go into something in the medical field. So if by the time you finish up high school and want to get into modeling then go ahead, you'll be a a more mature age and will understand things far better then you do now.

Explain to them that you dont want to do it as a career, just a hobby on the side. It is good experience, and if it takes you somewhere then that is a bonus. Wait a few years and do a modelling course, see where it gets you. if anywhere. If you want to do acting, and enjoy modelling, join an acting agency, get on their agent books and you could get some jobs and progress.

I know same thing with me, just ask them maybe if you could do it as a part-time or summer job and list out ways that it will help and not spoil you. While your still young learn a lot about the modeling world and show them it's not about partying and drugs and such. If you notice not a lot of models have such bad lives it's really those actresses and singers who screw up their life.

i doubt you would become a model, you're 12 and i doubt you have the looks of a model,

you need to be skinny, tall,

they like almond eyes, and oval faces,

not chubby girls with bunny hill noses, sorry.

Your 12.

Your gonna go through phases where your gonna want to do every job imaginable.

Wait till your older to decide what you want to do.

And then if you 18 and you still wanna model go ahead.

show them that you are smart enough not to end up like one of those "girls." its not only the kids that make it to that point, its mostly the parents fault!
