Lip Peircing

i'm 14 and my mom is letting me get my lip peirced, i already have my nose peirced, and that was about $30 at the tattoo place i went to.
i was thinking a lip peircing would be the same price...but my mom said it would probably be about $60.. (shes just guessing) and shes making me pay for it myself! about how much is a lip peircing cost? the tattoo place includes the studs or rings with the price, so would it be cheaper if i bought my own ring at the mall then brought it to the tattoo place?

also....im terrified of pain, and i cried before i got my nose peirced when i saw the needle, it ended up not hurting alot, and some people said a lip peircing hurts less than a nose peircing...and some say it hurts more.

honestly how bad does it hurt?
and about how much does it cost to get it peirced??

Hi hon

I am a body piercer and have performed over 3,500 piercings, so I will try to explain a few things.

Dont buy your own jewellery, as it has to be either surgical steel or titanium, the piercers prefer there own jewellery.

It does not hurt compared to the nose, but you need to remain calm, if you are nervous (it is normal) just do some breathing slow in and out, this will stop bleeding, as if you are all worked up your body goes into flight/fright and you tend to bleed more.

Only cleanse the piercing with luke warm salt water, no chemicals like metho/peroxide/tea tree oil etc as these have the highest amount of chemicals in them and they dry the out side, but destroy the new tissue growth on the inside.

Don't buy a numbing patch, as it hardens the skin.

Hope this has helped, and all piercing places are different in there prices.

Dont change to piercing for at least 3 months as you need your body to accept it, not reject it.

You will be fine, chin up and send through a pic when is done

cya

If you buy your jewelry with your piercing from a reputable shop, it will cost from $40-$60. And this may go up or down depending on where you live.

My lip piercing hurt a lot more than getting any of my other piercings. This was mainly because she hesitated. I've heard it hurts less than a nostril piercing, but I've never had my nostril pierced, so I wouldn't know. Everyone takes pain differently, though. Piercings that hurt for me, didn't hurt for others and vice versa.

Why don't you call the place and ask them so you know for a fact? I paid about $60 for my lip piercing but it can vary.

Don't go buy a stud from the mall. Those are generally cheap in quality. And bad quality jewelry isn't good even for healed piercings, much less healing piercings.

No one can tell you how bad it hurts. It hurts everyone differently as we all have different pain tolerances. I found my lip piercing to be relatively painless. Definitely less painful than my nose...which also wasn't that painful.
