It doesn't really hurt at all to get it done, just like getting stung a bit: you know it's there and it's really irritating for a little bit, but it doesn't actually hurt as such.



I'm a really big wuss and I'd rate it 3/10 so you can believe me it really doesn't hurt when you first get it done! It stings for about 1-2 hours, but then you barely notice that it's there.



I recommend getting a titanium bar btw, they are less likely to cause a reaction or get rejected (and they look nicer anyway). Definitely worth the bit extra that they cost.

It's about half as painful as getting cartilage done IMHO, but they take a long time to heal, and like others have said, get infected quite easily if they're new because your clothing is constantly rubbing the piercing [unless you go without a shirt, but then you get funny looks ].



The tendency for infection is worse if you're overweight because fat rolls trap sweat and rub as well...sorry for bad mental images there, I spent way too much time in a tattoo shop when I was in college and saw perhaps a bit too much. :/



Also, you're not really supposed to swim in pools with a new piercing so you might want to wait if that's your thing this time of year. Or not.

Shop around before getting it done, ask to see where they steralize their equipment or if they only use new needles. I did, you never know if you don't ask, it's your health at risk! It's done with a hollowed needle, unlike ears (18 gauge) or nose, so the needle is bigger (14 gauge), which means that if it gets infected, it gets gross really quick! Get a surgical steel ring and your body shouldn't have any negative reaction. Avoid sterling silver just in case your body rejects it (surgical steel is cheaper anyway)



What hurt was for 2 weeks afterwards, twisting to get in and out of cars (the waist of my jeans would hit it) and things like that.. that's about it. The experience itself, on a scale of 1-10 (10 being horrific) i'd give it a 2.

Nah, it doesn't hurt that long after it has been done. A week or so maximm.

id say a 4, you feel a pinch and some pressure, then its over, but the pain afterwards sucks ***, especially if you dont take care of it.

It diidnt hurt me at all, for most people it doesnt hurt actually. Just do NOT look while they are doing and do NOT hold your breath. You should be good to go

It didnt hurt me at all i couldnt feel it an thats the truth, but if ya tense up while having it done it will hurt so its best to just relax. Dont worry about it

It;s kind of tickley almost but it gets easily infected so take care of it!
