Sounds to me like you'd like a new look without going too drastic in length.



Here's what I would suggest you tell your hairdresser:



1. You want many different long layers, concentrated at the bottom.

2. Heavy graduated side bangs (this is the "emo" look you're going for, but versatile enough to please your Mom as well. =])

tell her to layer it and get side bangs...or you could make it short at the top so you can poof it up and keep the bottom long



but the basic emo/scene hair is side bangs and STRAIGHT hair



have fun with your hair

you should look online for pictures of a hair cut you like, an dprint it off and show it to your hair dresser.

or just tell her you want it layery/coppy, and alot of bangs.

keep it long and straight and just have it trimmed and get a side sweeping fringe they always look nice

Yet we all have been confused about what style we should select. Perhaps it would help if you were to try few different wigs on.... you know for style, length, etc.



Always take into consideration how the new style would be affected by the following:

wearing hats

playing sports

temperature in your part of the world

If you work, are there any "hair restrictions" (like the Deli Dept. where hair-nets need to be worn at all time)

How much time do you have in the morning to put your hair-do in good shape?

If you are like most of us at that age, you would probably prefer to shampoo and go!



The best way is to get a style that will compliment your facial features and works well with you hair type.....



You could go to the hair stylist a little earlier than your scheduled appointment, and go through the many "Hair styles" magazines that are available, choose a style, then show the picture to the stylist, ask if that particular style might work for you.



MOST IMPORTANTLY Remember it is only hair, and even if the hair cut you will get is not what you had in mind..... IT WILL GROW BACK..... Have fun with it.
