Hey I also live in Ireland so I know what you're going through. First of all, you're gonna need an agency to represent you but you're gonna need to have experience, confidence and obviously talent. So anyways, search for a talent agency in your town or nearest city.

Experience - Get in plays, local theatre etc.

You've gotta be really confident and talented so once you get an agent they'll seek out auditions for you.

You should start with student films (go to the film/theatre department at any college or university) and community theatre so can start building up your resume. Headshots are also VERY important. If you don't have any... and if you don't have much money for them... try your luck with a student photographer. They usually do as great a job and are cheaper because they aren't 'professional.'

... talent agencies. that is a good idea-- BUT most won't look at you if you don't have experience on your resume. If they aren't a reputible agency, they'll try to send you to acting classes (through them or their partners, to get themselves more money) and string you along. So PLEASE be careful with that! I live in LA and I see so MUCH of that everyday.. it's really sad. If you talk to some of the other actors in community theatre or student film makers, they can recommend someone versus googling "ireland talent agency".
