Intelligence by itself is mere potency which by itself achieves nothing until and unless directed towards an end intentionally. Therefore, intelligence by itself would neither be the cause for downfall nor even for rise.... the cause lies in the intentions and inclinations..... whether human intents and inclinations would cause own downfall would depend on the values and wisdom... the current trend of values does seem negative to me, but I am hopeful that wisdom would soon win and lead us to make necessary corrections so as not to cause own downfall.
