I'll go you one further - if we regularly meditate (daily) and start coming to terms with our own beliefs - that stillness on the inside will influence the amount of turbulence we experience outwardly in our lives.

Life is a response to our beliefs, our thoughts and our internal creations.

I think it's more important that we remain mindful of our bodies and feelings and thoughts. Stillness will come and go, but I think a lot of times we suppress our feelings and our bodies and minds pay for it through our own neglect. I know this is the case for me--tension in my legs and abdomen and arms, and frequent migraines. I think stillness is important so we can relax and rest, but it's not something we can have all the time. We have to be where we are, when we are there: present right here and now. So the mindful, self-awareness (sati-sampajanna is what we call it in Buddhism) is more important than the stillness. Be aware of the body, the feelings, the mind. I find this to be a greater tool for dealing with constant noise and busy-ness than seeking stillness, especially when I know that circumstances ensure that I won't find it right then and there.

Absolutely!

Faced with the turbulence that is beyond one's control, to keep sanity intact one has to seek refuge in one's inner pool of stillness!

Yeah I think so. I think there would be no other way in this case than to find some kind of resolution on the inside. Otherwise, you might not be able to handle the stress.

Where this is rampant noise ther must be silence and where there is silence there must be noise.

The purpose of outside events is to force our mind to take sheltor in inner peace.
