How to read a guitar tab

The letters on the side of the guitar tab e,d,g,a,b,e changed to b,f,b,e,g,c. what does this mean? The tab is for slipknots vermillion pt2.Could you please explain easliy Im a begginer! THANKS

"Those letters" are the tuning. So, EADGBE is standard tuning, and Slipknot uses that B tuning.



I suggest you use this tuner: http://www.get-tuned.com/guitar_tuner.ph...



And change the notes on it to B, F#, B, E, G#, C#, then use it to tune your guitar.

that is the tuning that the song is in. tune each string to those notes, instead of standard tuning
