Except for some women, children and at least one slave, everyone was killed who was there during the last assault.

Santa Anna (the child of a Spaniard who fought against Spain in the Mexican Independence war) had taken over as dictator and shredded the Mexican Constitution which had given rights to all Mexicans whether born or naturalized. He didn't want Naturalized citizens to have rights, land or anything else. He even killed entire villages of native Mexicans who opposed his destroying their constitution. He had the largest and best trained army on the North American Continent (but they gad never fought a modern army) who had years of combat and massacre experience and morals that would rival Hitler and Stalin.

rexcalib... Votes: +0	Several Mexican nationals in the fort were spared, as well as the women. All the Texans were killed in the fighting or executed immediately after. report abuse vote down vote up
