If you have been dancing en pointe for a while and you know which shoes fit you best and you feel most comfortable dancing in, it can be a benefit to you to buy to pairs of the same shoes and when you dance, alternate the pairs that you wear each time you take class. That way, you shoes will last longer, both pairs will be broken in, and you will have a back-up pair the other pair break. Also, if you are dancing with a company and doing shows, it is good to have an extra pair of shoes backstage that you are comfortable dancing in. One time I was dancing in Swan Lake and the shank broke of my left shoe in between Acts I and II. I wouldn't have made it through the rest of the ballet if it wasn't for that extra pair of shoes in my bag!

I would say no because by the time your first pair wears out, your feet may have gotten stronger/more flexible. So, when you use the second pair it may not be sutible for your new feet.
